D. H. Lawrence Book Bans

I don't think Women in Love was ever banned, although (according to Wikipedia) its UK publisher (Methuen & Co.) backed out after The Rainbow (to which it was a sequel) was banned.

The Rainbow was published in 1915, in both the UK and USA. It was prosecuted for obscenity at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on 13 November 1915, as a result of which 1,011 copies were seized and burnt. It was subsequently unavailable in Britain for 11 years, although editions were available in the United States. Similarly, Women in Love was published in the USA even though Methuen had backed out.

The UK publisher seems to have relented fairly quickly; Wikipedia gives the publication dates for Women in Love as 1920 in the USA and 1921 in the UK.
